Who's Casper ?

A mythical truck that used to haunt the drag strips around southern California and other tracks around the country where diesel drag racing events were being held. He was particularly frightening to Dodge and Ford trucks. :D

Mike L's original D-Max I believe. It has been around since at least 06 when I started paying a little attention.

"Casper" was a science-fair project that went horribly, horribly wrong.:lildevil:

It was supposed to be the first LLY into the 12's and run 11's with a shot of nitrous, then be retired to being a work truck.

But trucks have a mind of their own, and that one just wanted to kill everything in sight.

It won a ProStreet sled pull, a ProStreet national drag event, and set 4 Land Speed Records, in 2 years. It is the only truck known to have done the "Triple Crown", and might hold that honor indefinitely.

It is currently resting at Mike L's shop, taking a well-deserved vacation.

Who "owns" Casper? Certainly nothing with a Goat Head head on it, or a Blue Oval (Viagra?). It was a group-think project by the members of DuramaxDiesels, members of DieselPlace (before the sellout), Mike L, PPE, SoCal Diesel, Wicked Diesels, etc, etc, etc.

It's a Duramax Community project. What's next for Casper? Probably some more drags and sled pulling, and who knows? AutoX anyone???

But Casper's real story is that it was used to help develop many of the Dmax hotrod parts we all use today. Perhaps it's not a Triple Crown Throughbred as much as a Champion Test Mule.
