I'm currently wanting more specs on the Garrett GTX4208R mag. All I know of is that its a hybrid between a GTX4202R/GTX4508R just what exactly is changed/ swapped other than the comp wheel is a 80.xx mm wheel. Just would like to know more about it and how it runs a single. Also with extremely conservative tuning would it be ok on a stock LB7?

With 35" tires and stock fueling from a lb7 its going to be laggy. I would go for something a bit smaller overall.

Its going to be a great choice for a big twin set up, not so great to DD as a single, especially with stock fuel.
Imo, its not a turbo you can drive on while you build up to a twin set up.
Why are you interested in this big hybrid?
I would think a gt4094r bb turbo would rip pretty good as a single, with what you got goin on now, and can be used in a twin set up very easily to 800+ hp

Tired of riding around with small stockers under the hood. I would really love to have the GT5541R/GTX4208R mag compound setup but that's a long way off on my budget. I'm intrested in the big hybrid because it'll give me room to grow into the setup I want. I know alot of people run the 4094 but that to me is just a bigger stock charger (64-66mm). I'm looking for 70mm+ even a GTX4202R would suffice but then I still have to swap out for the 4208R mag in order to reap the benefits of the 5541 later. Just would like to know how it will perfrom on a stock setup for the mean time with the right tuning. Lag wouldn't be a problem if a 1.01 ex housing is used temp. Correct me if I'm wrong

Why not go with an S400 series charger. Lots of options on both housings and wheels. Why are you looking at putting a huge charger setup that requires a motor build for any sort of potential? Build your motor then pick your chargers based on your horsepower goal. Putting those chargers on a stock motor is like putting one round at a time in a full auto.

First off there is not a GTX4208R only the 42R Magnum (non X). Ran perfectly fine as a single on my truck (mild build) even on stock injectors it made just at 700 rwhp. With mild tuning I would guess it would be fine on a stock engine as the turbo is better suited for high rpms (wont make a lot of torque down low) because of it size (80mm).

Its going to be a great choice for a big twin set up, not so great to DD as a single, especially with stock fuel.

Where are you getting this information from? Personal experiences? Ever driven one?

a 40/94R is 68mm inducer.

A GTX4202R would be a good choice to build upon, could easily make 800-900 RWHP and will almost flow the same on the comp side as the 42 mag (but not as much on the turbine)

No really sure if I agree on this.. but everyone has their opinion.

I'm more geared toward BB garrett's nothing against borgs. But I'm open to options. Enlighten me on the borgs what are the specs of the s472, price, etc?

No Dan I've not personally driven a truck with that charger, i have ridden in several custom turbo config's now and also have upgraded my own charger, from that experience i can say my personal preference is to lean toward a smaller charger than the 42 series charger, especially with that sized exit, although it would be my first choice of a valley (high pressure, small, whatever you want to call it, it goes in the valley)charger for a "large street driven twin set up" on a built engine and 100 over injectors and dual pumps yata yata yawn.:hello:
Did you have a bad day today:dontknow:
It hump day baby the week now on the tail end relax:ban-hump:

Thanks dan So what is your opinion on using 42r mag on a stock setup like my 02 in my sig would it be ok with extremely conservative tuning? 1.01 housing to big? Can you post prices here dan on a full 42r mag kit?

Garretts fo' life! A 4202r would be a smarter choice since your motor is stock.... Mostly because it's cheaper then the gtx 4202... Unless you build your motor and add more fuel , these chargers won't be at their full potential

That was my point also. I think the garrett is absolutely a better charger sa I have ran both garrett and Borg chargers on my truck, I just feel the Borg offers more flexibility for growing horsepower goals as there are a lot of options and parts are cheaper. That said a 4202 is a badass single :D
