Looking for a used work truck (Gasser). Found a 2011 with a smoked trans I guess. I was wondering if they where problematic? Any idea whats the balllpark cost to rebuild one is? The guy says works fine and after 2mins it just stops working. Im just trying to get an idea if I even want to go look at it. I talked to a trans guy about it and if I dont want it he does. LOL

Thanks

I believe the 6l90 is a very strong trans. it was probably mistreated. I have 2 6l90 2wd transmission if you are interested

If it has the tap shift on the shifter it's a 6 speed 6l90. I believe by 11 it's definitely a 6l90 if it's gas.

The 90 is basically a beefed up version of the 80. It has one more clutch plate in each pack, slightly larger shafts, and 6 pinions in the input carrier, more ribbing in case. Ive got a busted 6L80 and a working 6l90 here at the shop. Awaiting time to swap into my c10:D

I know you can throw a diablo sport trinity in a 2015 6.2 all terrain and do gear banging burnouts and 6k rpm super hard shifts and parts won't scatter like my 4l80 did 3 times in 4 months in that 06 R/C.

Not sure if the 80 or 90 is in the 6.2 but they are tough for sure

My father has a bone stock 2015 ECSB GMC with a 6.2 and idk what it has for a trans but it doesn't need a tune to bang gears in a cloud of smoke! Seriously making me consider whether or not to go 17 dmax or gas 6.2 1500 for my next truck

They haul ass, we always use the shop driveway to the first sign on the straightaway to run stuff, my truck does 80-85 to the sign and the 6.2 does just under 100.
