Man I used to kinda hang around doin that sh!t back in the high school days along time ago. The crowd i used to roll with was all american muscle as were most the other racers. Course was always illegal and dangerous, but we never had that kinda stupid sh!t happen like it all does today with all the rice burner crowds. I kinda miss the good times we had, it was alot of fun. Not a snowballs chance in hell i'd go to one today! Theres some real dumbasses now, racin into oncoming traffic, too close to people, racing single-file, drunks, thugs, fights, etc. Way not worth it! Specialy the cost of getting caught, let alone death! It really is differant from my days, I never even raced, just watched, we had guy runnin 9'sec procharged mustangs, nitrous'ed malibu's and did it right, out in BFE two lanes and a safe distance. We even had guys on watch for 5.0 for us:p;) Ill line up against some douche on the street if all is clear and smoke him for a few seconds but apart from that, take it to the track:D

i agree chris, i have no issues with people who wanna race but do it smart, clean, and safe. i have a saab turbo and it really surprises some guys when i pass them at 140 mph after they cut me off....i had one Jag get so pissed he got his doors blown off one night he tried running me off the highway:rolleyes: i live in a very hilly area and the only good flat place to run around these parts is a crash scene once a year:( .....or the highway and deal with the state troopers :f-that:

well since Saab's aren't ricers i will allow the derail and continue it:hug:
What model? any mods?

2000 9-5 Aero. it's the wife's ride and she doesn't let me drive it too often. It's the first one i've owned and I was really impressed with it. You can get a lot of for the price. Now that I have one, I will always look at buying them first. It's stock and just got a new tranny. It's an auto BTW. Thank god I bought an aftermarket warranty with it. That saved me a ton of cash. I've done some research but haven't been able to find a lot of info on mods and such. I'm not digging too heavy YET. I'd like to go crazy with it once I find out what works. I know it has a ton of potential. For a big car it handles great and cruizes' down the road at 0 really nice. It's a fun car to drive and play with. I couldn't believe how small the turbo is on it. It's hard to believe that little things does what it does. Someday i'll get on it it but for now it's a great car and get's her back and forth to work. I'm already looking at newer ones to get her and play with this one.

ya i was/am a saab enthusiast....then spent the last couple years delving into duramaxs..now trying to finish my '95 900SEt build...they aren't all that cheap to mod the right way. Autos are not able to handle more than 300Ft/lbs so everyone mods the sticks. for a '00 9-5 aero auto i wouldn't do a whole lot to it. handheld tuner (BSR) and CAI and Chassis upgrades are about as far as you can go and you may gain 40hp for a whopping 3 large. i almost bought a newer aero in the spring but the dealer was kinda shady. good luck with it.

Thanks for the info. You have told me more than I have found out by running around on the net. As far as the auto, sounds like I need to ditch this thing and go with a stick. I don't like the idea of spending 3K for 40HP. I have noticed the 900's get a lot attention. Sounds like I might have 2 projects this winter. A different Saab and the truck. Thanks!!

if you are looking.....look for a 2003-2005 9-5 aero manual or a 99-02 9-3 viggen coupe preferrably. i havent done a ton of research on the sport sedan 9-3's but the aero models have the beefy 6 speed tranny thats in the cobalt ss and are comfy, just cant do many interior alterations due to an odd dash layout

I have seen some Viggen's and was leaning more that way. My FIL liked our car so much he went and bought a 02' aero with the manual. I'm jealous, that car is pretty sweet.

Morons. All of them. Too many kids with no clue what to do with their time.

That's what I don't get. I didn't have time like that when I was a kid because I had a JOB............How do they afford all the mods to race if they ain't got no job?

The only time I raced my truck was when I went to school, on my way to work or on the way home.
