Hi Folks,

Excellent web site. I've owned my 2005 GMC DURAMAX 3500 Crew Cab Dually since new and never had any issues with the truck save oil changes, brakes, etc. Well, when it rains it pours. First, last year I had to install all new brake lines...Wow! That was a very time consuming job, but all worked well. So, now it's the fuel lines, so I ordered the Dorman stainless steel kit and the fuel cooler. Very nice kit purchased through Rock Auto which by the way was the cheapest; I paid $407.00 for the SS lines, fuel cooler and the fuel line disconnect tool. Saved over $200.00 compared to most other outlets.

Okay, so I removed all the old lines and cooler; simple enough. However, I am having one heck of a time installing the front section of the new line. I dropped the front drive shaft which allowed for more room, but no matter how I position the new front section, the line will not run up to the fuel line connectors on the driver's side just below the intake manifold. There is a bracket (holds the line secure on the driver's side of the block) that hinders install too, but that bracket can't be removed from the line; well it could, but it is permanent from the factory. See pics please.

I am wondering if anyone else has installed this kit on their 2001-2010 truck and solved this problem.

I was thinking I could drop the transmission oil pan to allow more space to jockey the line in position, but I'm not ready for that yet. I'm gonna sleep on this issue and try again at day break.

Thanks in advance and again excellent web site.

Welcome to DD.

Moved to LLY section.

When I did mine, it seemed the toughest part was snaking the lines past the ABS module. If this is the Dorman kit thats in multiple pieces, then snake the front hard lines up to the engine and get those fastened in first. The last thing you do is connect the braided lines between those and the frame sections.
Raising the truck up on stands does give you more room to work and makes the job easier.

Thank you very much! Took your advice and finally was able to feed the lines up the driver side. Connected the remaining parts and all fitted nicely. However, the 90 Degree Fuel Injector Return Line Fitting (Leak Back "L" Fitting) snapped off while pushing the line up. Looks like the part just snaps in thank goodness. See pic.

Any idea where I should go today to buy one? I will check the dealer. Found a few places on the internet, but will not receive for at least four days; I have to get this beast running! Thanks again for the help. Jim

I know the guys have talked about those fittings in the past, but I do not know where to find them quickly other than a dealer.

Dealer will be your best bet as far as quality. Dorman offers it and your local parts store should have it or get it quick. (p/n 904-123 for drivers side)
Either way you have to buy the whole return line assy. You can just remove the connector you need off the new one though if you dont want to replace the entire thing.
