No, you do not have to remove the turbo. MikeL might be in the shop try to give him a ring.

ok thanks guys, i slaved at it for about 5hrs yesterday and i only have the top 2 bolts left, but i figured what the hell it cant be that hard to remove the turbo, plus i have a diamone eye downpipe im gonna install after i drop the trans...i got stuck on the EGR bolts were you have to put the blocker plate in, they seemed a lot easier the first time i put the blocker plate in and now i cant seem to break them lose.

Like MALIBU suggested use a couple long extensions and you can sit at the tail section and remove the top bellhousing bolts with ease. The first time is always the hardest. It took me 4hrs the first time doing it off jack stands with a motorcycle jack for a tranny jack. This last time I had the tranny and T.C. out in 1 1/2 hrs. Good luck!!!

I didn't take my stock charger out either. I used a VERY long extesion and went at it from behind the crossmember, closed one eye so i could see over the top and got 'em all first shot.

When i put it all back togehter i replaced the bolts with double ended accessorie studs, that way i only have to get the socket on the stud and squeeze the trigger, it'll fall on the bolt and use the stud to center/locate the socket.

Good luck.:)
