Help: Ok guys its time

What converter is best for me.

My converter leaks tranny fluid like the water hose is turn on wide open. I think its that time for a new one. Kurt has told me to get on here to ask u guys. Precison, 1055, 1057, 1058, or 1059?? I have about a grand to work with. I may be able to get a little more if i got to. This truck is a stock charger. We will continue to pull after a couple of months when i get another company truck. So maybe with a aftermarket converter it can handle the heat. So what is best for my truck?? Sled pulling, Drag racing and all that good stuff.



Side note

I do no that i need a stage IV tranny but i figure if i get the torque converter the most expensive part out of the way in a couple months i can cought up the rest of the money for the alto clucths and drums.

the 1057 can longer be gotten unless you want all new parts which total 2000$. I would say 1058 would be the best choice for you. a new converter however is 1300$

i have a 1056 and i love it it couples around the same time as stock but when it does you can feel it

I still have the 1056 in mine, i looked into putting a new one in, but didnt figure i needed too. It works fine for sled pulling and drag racing.

I run a 1057 but if I could do it over I would buy a looser convertor, to help with spool up

I think it just depends on what you are planning on doing with the truck. Mike would definately be the guy to ask on this subject as he has had first experience with them all, but I do know that precision makes a great unit and theyre a little cheaper than the SC units. And also you dont have to buy drums and bands for the alli, just clutches, steels and a shift kit, and you can do some other goodies depending on what you decide. Once you get the converter out of the way the rest is very cheap. Good luck and let us know what you choose.

I have one in my 2002/CC.........works great

I put the precesion in mine and really like it. I had a SC 1050 prior to the precision.

That was what I did, and when Dipper rebuilds my LBZ transmission I will be going with the same TC.

Ill rebuild it for 150 bucks and a case of beer. And you wont have to drive far.
