Hey guys. My 03 duramax has suddenly started acting funky on the gauge. When letting off the gas it drops to 0. When I push the gas it will go back up but not quite to where it used to. Anyone have a suggestion where to start?

I just smelled the oil and it doesn't smell at all like diesel. I got no check engine light and even had a friend tell me it's a common duramax thing. I don't really want to drive it till I know though
Do a search for "diesel oil paper test" if you think there is fuel in the oil. Best bet is to send out a sample to see if the oil has fuel in it.
You can put a mechanical gauge to check your actual pressure. If there is pressure, then it could be either a bad stepper motor or a bad sending unit. I think there are 2 oil sending units on the motor.
