Oil Leak

My 09" has been at the flippen dealer 4 days now for a stupid oil leak they say it is at the oil filter adapter and they say they are havig difficulties getting a o-ring they say is the problem.. Can it really be that hard to get the parts??? They say they should have it done tomorrow. I hope so..

you can't get just the o-ring. you need a new oil cooler to get a new o-ring

An o-ring is an o-ring and can come in several different flavors. I wouldn't believe it would be that hard to find.

They also have to work within a certain "blanket" of parts and usually don't outsource.
And an O ring isn't necessarily just an o ring. It needs to hold up to certain heats temps, oil or fuel resistant and sometimes mechanic resistant
I tried usuing a small A/C o ring inside a fuel line for a friend to avoid replacing a dealer only one for $65 bucks. Didn't work for more then a day.

What oil leak is this you speak of? My truck hasn't moved for 2 weeks and now that I started it up this weekend and washed it off I noticed a small leak only when its on coming from a hose not exactly sure where it comes from? I hope its not the same one

Did that change for the newer gen. dmax? Reason I ask is because I just had them changed on mine and just the new seals were purchased, not the entire oil cooler.

Obviously....The one you tried to use is likely an HNBR o-ring and is only used in refrigeration applications. As you found out, it's no good for fuel!

A nitrile o-ring is most commonly used and is good for almost all hydro-carbon applications. Easily can be found and can be purchased in kits from many different sources. Most GOOD mechanics will have a kit in their toolbox just for this reason.

IF your dealer can't figure this out then they are a shtty dealer and I wouldn't take my stuff to anyone so dumb.
