I have a pretty bad oil leak. The oil leak is right behind the oil pan. I can't really tell wear the leak is coming from. I am thinking that the leak is coming from the rear main seal. Does anybody have any ideas?

I would check your oil feed bolts for the turbo and the return line gasket. they can look like a rear main seal leak. I would start there first.

That’s what I thought. So a couple of weeks ago I removed my turbo, put new gasket on the oil feed tube, and made sure I tighten the bolts extra tight this time around. The leak looks like it is starting to go away. I wonder if the oil I am seeing is left over that is just making its way down. I would think that a rear main seal would leak continuously.

My truck did this also, There is not alot on the back of the engine that will leak. I would try cleaning out the valley of the motor with some brake cleaner and keep an eye on it. The drain line bolts can be a nightmare to tighten.

Yeah it is a pain to tighten those oil drain line nuts. I will try to clean it again. See if that makes a difference. I should know more tonight.

Was your truck leaking from the oil drain line?
