This is one thing my truck does not do...after 5K mi the oil still has a brown tint to it...its weird.

Mine can have over 2k and it's still brown. My lbz turned black in 500 miles even with the egt blocked. This lb7 has over 180k on it too. I just figured the lb7's were easier on oil since they seem to run cooler temps than my lbz did. This things dosen't use a drop of it either. Must be about to blow up lol!

TX of course
The color of the oil has nothing to do with how easy a given engine is on the oil. If you r oil is black then you know its doing its job and cleaning the soot out of the engine.

I run the exact same oil I have in both previous Dmaxes. I'm not worried about, just seems different.

my guess is that it is the egr cooler dumping so much heat into the cooling system, and thereby heating up the oil so much; i havent done an oil change yet egr-less but it would take at least 1400 miles before the charcoal color was full on in the oil (and this is with an amsoil bypass filter on the truck too). I will report back in a week after i change the oil on the beast tommorow. :)

LB7's don't make enough HP to get the oil dirty, and all the fuel that leaks from the injectors into the pan keeps the oil clean... :lildevil:

Seriously, our trucks will turn the oil black almost immediately. We change oil after a race and it's often already black with just a few miles on it.

my oil is already black before i start the truck haha. to check if there is fuel in your oil get a paper towel put a drol of oil on it and if theres a yellow ring around it there is fuel in it.
