so i just put on a new exhaust today and took it for its first drive. i did not that when putting it on it was covered in grease, i assumed to protect it. but when i got back i saw oil in the tail pipe. didnt know if this is just the melted mixed with soot, or someting i should be worried about.

As long as it's just a little bit I bet it's just residual from the new piping.

The oil might be for shipping purposes (to keep it from rusting while in a shipping container) seeing how the majority of material and products we purchase come from China. With that said I do recall purchasing sticks of pipe some 30 years ago and it being oily and doubtful at that time it was coming from China. Doubtful it is to help with install but merely the lubricant is needed during the manufacturing process..
