The guy is full of shit.
First of all, the oil lubrication system in the dmax isnt under vacuum. Unless physics has changed, something cant "collapse" with positive pressure being subjected to the inside of it.
Second of all, the ECM does NOT SHUT THE TRUCK DOWN if oil pressure drops to zero. Go try this by unplugging your oil pressure sensor, and start the truck. Guaran-frikkin-tee it will start dinging at you and say "OIL PRESSURE LOW" in the driver info center but it will keep running.......

Make sense, I drove mine back from SC to MI with the truck showing no oil pressure that one time
I know for a fact when you loose oil pressure your truck wont shut down. Matter of fact I know you can drive from Mcrats house in ca to chads old shop in vegas with oil pressure going from normal to zero :rofl:
Also I thought the system would pressurize the filter...not collapse it..
He may be on to something though...Penzoil/fram and quaker state is crap. My grandpa told me to stay away from penzoil and quaker state when I was little and would help out at his service station, never knew why, never researched it, i dont care to learn why, I just know to this day to just go along with what he said lol.

a 21 hour work day yesterday.
I get home after midnight and try to sleep but Allison the puppy decides to have explosive poop all over our 6 month old carpet. ( not cheapr stuff either, $2700 for 500 sq ft.)
then i goof around most of th day, a few erronds, a few chores around the house and a little work.
a few fosters oil cans
am I missing something? penzoil isbuying a new motor?

It does. I blew up a fram on the 03. Not sure why it popped, never used fram after that and have had no problems since.
x10 i never buy fram filters, heard / read too many horror stories.

Ok after reading all 10 pages of posts, the engine quit, ECM did not turn it off and the filter medium inside collapsed due to poor quality the canister itself was not crushed. Penzoil is paying for a new engine for this guy and rightfully so. Penzoil and Fram should yank those filters off the shelves!!!
