Oil and weight

I have been using synthetic oil in 2008 2500hd diesel. What weight should I use and can you switch from super oil to synthetic?

5w40 mobil 1 right now, but i actually liked rotella t6 better. i had higher idle oil pressure and no typewrighter tick with rotella t6 5w40.
