Oh O Coolant leak?

I drove my truck a good part of last week and I put it away toward the end of the week do to in-climate weather coming. So yesterday when I went to my shop I noticed under the truck there was a puddle of what appeared to be antifreeze (orange in color) . I crawled under there and it looked like it was dripping off the bell housing. This is the first time I have seen this.

I didn't have my keys with me so I could not investigate but I will be tomorrow first thing. The only other time I have seen something like this was the turbo coolant line and that was repaired. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this to give me some quick ideas where to start my search of the source of leak.

Hoping it's nothing serious.

It could be the coolant line that goes into the turbo centersection, oil cooler, or head gaskets.

Is the coolant coming off the pass side or drivers side? Pass side could be the small cover on the adapter plate just above the starter area.

Driver side goes to the oil to water cooler filter base area i think and that gasket can dry rot and start leaking. It's happened once to me on an 01.

Weird,

More so on the passenger side. What is weird is I wiped up the spill Saturday and this morning there was another puddle under the truck and the truck wasn't started .

The only rem-nets of a leak that I can see is the turbo coolant line.You can kind of see a wet trail,kind'a.

I'm going to change that hose first chance I get and HOPE that is it. I don't see anything else at the moment,crossing fingers!

Im guessing it could be that plate on the rear housing. I dont know why but I had mine just randomly leak. And since the coolant is always against it, it will leak without the engine running.

Go to th estore and buy yourself a UV test kit. TYhey arent too expensive and save you money in the long run.

Makes sense wish I had a better idea where this plate is. Can anyone pinpoint the area or better description of location a picture would be awesome.

I was hoping not to have to get a die tester ,I really don't have the time to fiddle with this either. Might have to just drop it off at my dealer ,expensive but trustworthy.

i wouldnt drop it off, its two bolts a couple bucks for a gasket. Im digging up the picture I think i have of it

Cant find a decent picture but it is behind the downpipe you can see it behind the downpipe if you look between the downpipe and up-pipe,.. I forgot about that little detail. Cant remember if the downpipe needs to be removed or not.

I would try dying it and find the root cause. Could be terrible luck with a a leaky HG.

Its right behind the pass side uppipe bellows, just above the starter. Its about 2" wide by 4" long.

And I'm mad at her.

Can't friggen find it ,yet. Everything looks dry above no trail. The HG or matting area is dry. There is just a drip off off the alignment pin on the passenger side. Yes there was a puddle again this morning.

Have to keep looking as time allows I guess. Hard to see that plate but everything like I said looks dry. Weird

I haven't started the truck yet.

When I rebuilt last year, Merchant told me to replace that cover gasket even though it wasnt leaking at the time. Said that the OEM paper gasket could breakdown and seep for no reason. Id like to know what that coolant port is for in the first place.

To be honest with ya I'm struggling to see that plate. I will keep looking

Sucks as there is no trail.

I'm busy at work so time is a issue.

I'll take it the plate is on the side of the motor? Perhaps pulling the starter would give me a better look? I hate wild goose chases.

That is the general area (plate) that the coolant drip is probably,maybe, coming from but I cannot see a trail from above running down unfortunately. Guess I'll have to pull the starter for a better look

starter will not help at all. downpipe will give you a better look but that would be a PITA. ill draw a picture for you. give me a couple minutes
