OBDII Splitter Test.

I purchased an OBDII splitter so I could hook both an EFILive cable and a HPTuner cable on the truck at the same time. Why? Cause I wanted to have more "external" ports.

Whichever cable hooks first gets accurate data, the second cable gets garbage. It will hook, just the data is not even slightly OK, none of it.

The first cable will collect the right data though.

So the splitter "works" but you can't have two similiar devices talking at the same time. Need to try with a Tech2.

The same company sells a 90 deg OBDII cable that will plug into a V2. Nope. It freaks the ECM out, and the truck will not start.

Thanks for the info Pat, I bought the splitter as well, I havent received mine yet, I was hoping to be able to leave the scan gauges plugged in while logging with efi, but it sounds like this wont work either. I'll let you know for sure though when I get mine.

that 90 degree unit is not wired the same as we need.... Its for those scangauge units. I had to custom build one.

pat did you try mabey reading with slow stream on one or the other ? just curious if at mabey a slower read spead it would allow more data transfer?

will tht allow you to run two things like efi hpt at the same time or say efi and my edge insight ?

Doesn't sound like it will work.

When I go to GM training, we use a spitter so we can all look at whatever with the Tech2. It's usually split 15 ways for each person to have their Tech2 and everyone has access as normal, BUT we are only reading info, not doing anything else.

If a Tech2 can split the data stream, so can something else, it's just a matter of finding out what is the difference.

Have you hooked up a tech II and efi together with it? it would be cool for like a dyno to lock it 4th and be able to log at the same time. Also what if you used the splitter to log 2 different things, like efi for ecm and hp for tcm vise versa

is it splitting that kills it or the fact you are trying to have it read by 2 differant programs.

The splitter worked. Both ports can "hook", and you can swap back and forth. But when device one makes a request, it gets good data. Device two gets, uh #2.

Did anyone ever get a splitter that works to run CTS and LOG EFI Live? Did the install of a second OBD II port work for both of these at the same time?

I tried the splitter on my cts/V2 before I seen this. The 06+ trucks can't do a 2nd obd port per Ben I believe.
