Nova Scotia, Canada has just brought in a new speeding fine. If you are caught going over 50Km per hour over the limit (35MPH), it is a $2400.00 fine, they impound your truck, suspend your license for 7days and 6 demerit points (over 10 points and you loose your license for 6 months), so if you have a ticket for doing 15KMPH over (that 4 points) in the past 2 years, you lose it for 6 months. the for the next 6 months after you get it back you are on probation, if you get caught doing anything, you lose your license for a year!

WTF! I better put bigger tires on my truck to slow it down. Not that I ever speed.......;)

BC is anything over 40km/h (25mp/h) over the posted = instant vehicle impound and IIRC license suspension as well for 30 days. ON THE SPOT!!

And I won't even get into the new drinking/driving laws. It makes me mad just thinking about it. Basically turns the cops into Judges and Jury on the side of the highway with no opportunity for due process unless its a 30 day suspension.
