I might be buying a kit if it checks out ok...its an NOS kit and consists of:

10LB Bottle with brackets and dump tube

NOS 16020 Super Powersot Solenoid (the only info I found about this is it will flow up to 175hp and has 1/8" inlet and outlet)

Bottle to solenoid line

and Solenoid to intake line

I have heard a few people say just run the line from the solenoid to the intake with no jet.

Will this kit work for me to use straight line, or is the solenoid too big to run it like this?

Since diesels don't really need a specific fuel air mixture, it is pretty hard to cause problems with excess NOS (or air for that matter). From what I've heard, the problems come in when the tuning isn't adjusted properly for the NOS. If I recall, the timing needs retarded some when NOS is on.

The only ways I see that you could put too much NOS in is:
1) You drain the bottle in less than 1/4 mile
2) It goes in so fast that it chills the intake charge below the self-ignition point

I would run a jet. a .024 jet is ~30-40hp gain, and .064 is aropund 70rwhp. If the jet is the limiting factor, id use it. What size is the solenoid?

That second one is the big issue. Retarding the timing helps to counter that.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I have heard mixed reviews about this. I know you are supposed to retard the timing and I will certainly adjust the tune accordingly for the nitrous.

I am not sure exact size...I tried finding some information but got nothing specific. Its a NOS 16020 Solenoid

The kit if complete will have a nozzle. I would start out small and work your way up. Jeff

The kit I got was used and did not have a nozzle or jets. I picked it up for a really good deal and if I have to buy them I will not be disappointed.

do you have any fuel upgrades? from what i understood when i was checkin nos out was that nitrous is useless unless you have enough fuel. nitrous is boost in a bottle.

I found a single nozzle and some jets...it has a .049, .062, .078, and a .093

I am going to start with the .049 and might put the .062 in to see how it runs. I have no intention of running the .078 or the .093

Does anybody have the bottle mounted in the cab?
