I just went from Provo to Las Vegas and back this weekend towing my jeep (about 5000 lbs ish) and I was keeping a close eye on trans temps. most of the time the trans temp was about 100-110 above ambient air temperature. When I tried to keep it under 200 degrees because I don't know how high is safe. So what is a safe trans temp? These temperature readings were from the DIC and thermometer on the mirror. Just wanting to get a reference on things.

Where can you purchase that fluid? Local auto part store?

Allison dealer...you can find your local dealer from their website.

On edit: I forgot it is a Castrol product so anyone that sells Castrol may be able to get it for you. I tried the local farm store but all they could order from Castrol was 5 gal...and iirc the Alli dealer was cheaper per gallon.

TranSynd although a Castrol product cannot be sold by Castrol ditributors. Must be bought at an Allison dealer.
