No tow haul not the switch

Noticed tow haul doesn't work in the 02 I just picked up. No light on dash and can't tell a difference in shifting. I pulled the shifter and checked with a multimeter and it's working fine. What's my next step?

Broken wire inside orange sheath, usually at the black clip that holds the wire to the column.

Sorry, I should have specified. I tested at the end of the wires, at the clip and got good indications on the meter that the switch was working. I also moved the wires around while testing and it worked consistently.

Just jumped the connector where the switch goes in and still no luck. Is there a way to do a panel light test to make sure they are all working?

Did you try jumpering the tow/haul signal pin at the BCM? Just to rule out a wiring issue between the connector and the BCM.

Yes, you can do indicator tests, but you need a Tech 2.

Haven't tried that yet. I'll have to do some searching to figure out where to jump. Last night I drove it in varying conditions trying the button with no change so I am ruling out the light.

Just jumped from the black wire on bottom and the light blue on top and no dash light indication.

I believe in my picture above is not the BCM . Do the wires make they're way to the BCM after whatever the assembly above it is?

What did you exactly test at the switch? Did you test for voltage at the switch or did you ohm out the switch itself to make sure it was working fine? Kinda confused on that part.

At the end of harness of the shifter, while disconnected from the truck I put a lead on each pin in the connector testing for continuity while pressing the switch. After I confirmed that, I jumped the connector in the truck where the column harness plugs in. When that step didn't work I went further and jumped the wires shown in this photo ( light blue towards top and black towards bottom). This assembly (not sure what it is) is located just above and to the left of what I think is the BCM.

It is a light blue wire to the bcm. Pin B12 wire number 553. Looks like after it goes through the TH switch is goes to a body relay block under left side of dash.

Much appreciated. Could you tell me where the other wire goes into the bcm? I'm assuming it's black. I will try this later today.

from that body relay block it goes to the which turns into a black wire from the TH switch to the body relay block. Then it continues to be black and goes to ignition key alarm switch. After the ignition key alarm switch the wire turns into a light green wire. Wire number 80 pin B9

Thanks, major help so far. I do have an issue with my ignition. They key will come out even while it's running. I wonder if the ignition switch you are referencing could be an issue.
