ok, so last night i start to head home from my garage and i start throwing 1093 and 0087 codes. wasn't too surprised b/c i hadn't changed my fuel filter in a while and i'd been running some fuel mixes. but, i'd clear then and 2mi down the road i'd throw it again. this goes on and off the whole 1hr drive home, some of the times it was like there was a sweet spot. if i hit throttle just about half way it would start to slow the truck down, and i mean downshifting from 5th at 60 and continue to do so till i was going about 30, then gradually it would pick back up to about 62.

so this morning i get up and go grab a fuel filter. put it on and now can't get the truck to start. that was at 11 this morning here it is 4:30 and it still won't start. i got another new filter, a new WIF sensor, took the filter housing plunger apart and cleaned it and even pulled the flexible fuel line from the tank to make sure it wasn't cut or anything. the only thing i can think, is that it's the filter housing leaking somewhere and not letting it get suction. i pulled the fuel line off the housing and put my finger over it while i pushed the plunger and it wouldn't even suck my finger in a bit.

i also checked the fprv and it's tight and doesn't seem to be leaking.

so, the question is, is it the filter housing? seems like the only thing that isn't working properly.

thanks in advance.

if anybody has any ideas and they would like to call me... 732 277-6076

Too bad you dont have a lift pump, You could have it on to check for possible housing/filter leaks.

Its nice also when priming a new filter.

Im sure youll fig it out, good luck.

check your fuel pump relay in underhood fuse block, swap it out with the drl one. mine blew once, left me on the side of the road scratchin my head for an hour till I figured it out.

i was looking at that but didn't mess with it. i'll try that tonight when i get home, either way i need the lift pump. but that still doesn't effect why i can't get suction at the filter housing.

that's the problem, i can't get it to pump any fuel out, even with the filter full of fuel. it never gets hard even with the fuel in there. i know have a very small leak at the sending unit but that still doesn't explain why i can't get it to suck my finger in when i put it over the feed line at the housing.

Dumb question, But are you piositive the O Ring is seated properly?

It never hurts to re check the simple things.

Get that Lift pump hooked up so you can find your leak! Good Luck.

yea took it on and off a few times. i even sprayed some soapy water on it to see if i could find a leak around the base when trying to prime it and nothing.

i recently started having issues with it taking a bit longer to start too. i'm gonna tap a few more mounting holes in the top of the tank to try and hold the sending unit down better.

take bleeder screw out, get a rubber tipped blow gun. press tip firmly in bleeder hole. spray a soapy solution or even spray nine around plunger (Get it good and wet) release air but dont go to wild. see if plunger bubbles. if so, diaphram NFG.

na i didn't get to finish it last night. i can't use the mount it comes with b/c it hangs below the frame. i don't have crap for tools at home as everything is down at my garage, so more time was spent trying to figure a place to mount it using what i had at home than actually installing the damn thing, not to mention getting home from work at 7:30 didn't help much. i did manage to get it all mounted and the lines ran so tonight when i get home (at 10) i can wire it up and see how she goes, i did have to mount it on the outside of the frame for now though. once i get it back down to my shop i can put it on the inside w/ some custom brackets and install the draw tube.

well i finished it up this morning and she started on the 5th crank, woohoo:D. i just got the filter housing from Mike today so i'll slap that on tonight maybe. what's strange is, now the plunger gets hard, but it's not leaking anywhere on the housing. but w/o the key on and pump running it won't.

Did you try taking the pump apart and see if anything looks messed up. I've taken it apart before, but I don't remember how it all works.
