Hey guys new to the site. I just finished doing my head gaskets on my 06 Lbz and after getting everything back together I started it and the truck idles great no smoke just sounds good. I noticed it doesnt rev up and i cant hear the vanes on the turbo open or close. Also i noticed that the truck will not rev past 1800 rpm and just smokes like a train. To solve this problem i hooked up my Edge cts and checked the balance rates most were around 1 or 2 except for number 3 ,6 Cylinder they read around 4.5 and 5 , so i changed them out and still nothing (wont rev up and just smokes and smokes). After doing some reading on the site i read about the vane positioning sensor causing the motor to smoke a lot. Reading of this i decided to change that also, started the truck and same thing. The truck idles great but i as soon as you give her gas and try to rev it up , it hits a wall at 1800 rpm and just smokes really white and some black smoke, there is no codes. My question is do you guys have any other sugestions or things for me to try changing, thank you . Also feel free to move this post if its in the wrong spot.

Check and make sure you have the vane sensor plugged in and correct. Could of pinched a wire or something on it seeing as that is very easy to do in the location it is!

All sensors and grounds hooked back up?

X2 check these, a loose ground can put you in a world of hurt. I never knew how important they ALL were until I ran into this myself. One little ground wire caused me so much frustration.

What kind of scanner are you using to pull codes? If you can't hear the vanes cycle I feel like there should be a code set. Granted this is if all the power and grounds check out.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. I am sure the vane positioning sensor is in right I went today and pulled it out again and stuck a screwdriver in the hole to see if i can get movement in there. I was able to move it side to side a tiny bit, i then reinstalled the sensor and traced the cable back to make sure it wasn't pinched. As for the grounds i looked but could not see any that weren't hooked up. Also i was trying to see if there is a boost look but could not hear anything and i tried to put my hand around all the couplings to feel but all seemed good. Chevyburnout1 I am using my friends Edge cts to read codes and check my balance rates, I am back at work now for 20 days but any info that i can look up would be helpful.

hey guys , I havent got it fixed yet I am at work till the 1st of Nov but then will be back into it.
(Is this in gear trying to buld boost, driving, or free revving?) this is all the time, i cant really drive it down the road cause the fenders are still off . But i tried reving it up in park and just hits a wall at around 1800rpms and then just smokes like a train. I tried driving it up and down the drive way and same thing. I am lost . But when i get home iam gonna rip everything off and try again and make sure for the last time that everything is hooked up. But i got another motor kicking around so i might switch turbos and other stuff.
