I have been having a hard time getting my truck to smoke at all. I don't want alot of smoke but I would like to know that I am driving a diesel. I don't want to take it to the dyno with the tune that is in it because I know what I will see. A little smoke through the RPM range would tell me that I am feeding it all it can burn and then some. I get a little puff off idle and then it is all clean. Pat says my rail pressure is OK so can I feed it more fuel?

What you have is ideal for max HP you can add more fuel but what happens when you go to a bigger fuel shot and you lose power? is it worth it then? you could always send Diesel Pilot a PM maybe he'll send you his DPv6 which has lots of power and lots of smoke....

MAF, PW, timming and TBI have all been messed with now and there is still no sucess. I don't see much point in upping rail pressure because it is about as high as that pump will go.

Made some progress today. I keep being told that small changes are the way to go but in this case I went big to see some results. I smokes a little now but needs more work. bigger PW and little more timming. Might try to up the pressure a little but I don't think it will do much good. The one thing I have found is that it seams faster at part throttle then it does at WOT. Is this possible. Does this mean that I have gone past the point that the fuel can support and I am draining the rails pressure? I didn't log it today because the race is going to start here and I didn't have time.

Check out the tune I submitted to the website. D/L it and compare my Hot tyre fryer to your tune. You can cut and paste all or some of the tables in there but look closing at the summary of differences. Hope that helps!!

I would love to but I can't seam to find it. I will assume it would be in the LLY section but I checked all sections and have found nothing. Thank's

For lower rpm's and before the turbo spools you'll want to look into the MAF table... adjusting that will allow you more than enough fuel to make some smoke even on the stock pulsewidths.

From 1800rpm on up thats where you can just adjust the pulsewidths... you'll want to make sure that your torque management limiting injection tables are modified to actually allow the pulsewidth you are commanding though.

I don't see a need in adjusting rail pressure. Also, adding timing will decrease smoke for the most part. And depedning on where you up the timing you might be hurting things more than helping. There is no need for excessive timing until you've got fuel and boost to make use of.
