So long story short, backed into a snow drift in January there was a stump in it, took out my park assist.

Just put my truck in the garage, I have no reverse lights, bulbs are good.

I never pay attn to the lights because my windows are so dark.

Is the park assist issue related to the reverse lights or vise versa? And how can I fix it.

There is a module on your frame behind the bumper that runs the reverse lights (all the lights, actually). You should check to see if any of the wiring or plugs were damaged, or if something is shorted out back there.

Yeah. On the frame by the spare tire there is a bunch of wire, connectors, etc.

Dont forgot, the headlights need to be on for the reverse lights to work. If im not mistaken.

Its not a module...its just a wiring junction block/splice pack.

I don't think they do. My backup lights work without the headlights on.

So it is. Never looked at the wiring diagrams before, and just figured a mysterious black box was a module, not a splice pack. But it still could be the source of the problem, IMO.

wtf?? Uhhh no the reverse lights definitely work during the day with the headlights off........lol.

The reverse lights are controlled directly by the BCM. When you shift to reverse, the TCM sends a data message to the BCM to trigger the reverse lights.

You're thinking of the APPROACH lights with the keyless entry.....if you unlock the truck with the remote at night, yes, the daytime running lights (on 03-07), reverse lights (and on 2007.5+, the headlights too) come on.

weird.

so at night, when you hit the unlock button, the reverse lights do come on??

Does the PRNDM1 display in the cluster lose the "underline" when you shift into reverse?

I figured it out, the light I just changed somehow burnt out again and the other one was loose.

Ben, they worked last week, I tried it this morning and neither one worked. So I put two new bulbs in and put dielectric grease on everything. Should have checked first, never imagined new bulbs burning out in a month.

The plugs under the bed still looked brand new.
