A freind of mine just got an ECM from ECUOutlet for his 07 LMM, and had it programmed with his OS (12628594) from his VIN. Now the remote start doesn't work. Initially, I suspect it was becuase the injector flow rates hadn't been programmed. I programmed the flow rates from the GPCM to the ECM. It then wouldn't work, probably because the DPF was removed, but not tuned out at that point. Now he has a Quadzilla with the DPF delete program in it, and the remote start STILL doesn't work. I noticed that there where some DPF related code that where coming and going. They never matured, and didn't set a MIL, they showed up in the V2, but not in the 7.5 scan tool. Below are the DTC's as they where recorded with the "Record all diags" function. Any suggestions? I may end up using a license and hooking him up with a EFILive DPF Delete tune. Might work better.... Also, the "Remote vehicle start disable 1" data is "Unknown"m and there are no more entried...just in 1.

I think the OS should be 8594 and if there are any MIL the remote start will not work. I would try downloading the stock OS and calibrations from the original ECM then do a full flash of the new ECM with the stuff from original and try that. That is all I've got. Good luck.

I just had a local customer get a new ecm. We full flashed in his OS, added his vin, did the flow rates, to no avail. Everything worked as planned, no codes, but no remote start.

Drove me batty. I took another ecm that I had and did the same thing. Fixed the issue, everything works great including the remote start. Not sure what was wrong, but the different ecm fixed it.

Hmmm... Maybe I should flash the read I took of the original ECM to it.

He said He's been talking to you over on DP about EFILive.

No... Should it be up to a certain number of cycles? If it hadn't learned VATs, I'd think it wouldn't even start with the key.

With the last update we made to the software to allow the full reflashing, the additional data that is gathered (as mentioned above by John) is only so a complete operating system can be transferred to another ECM, all the normal calibrations from a truck have always been read out so it should not matter if you have an old or new file version.

I would suspect the two primary reasons it's not working is either -
1 - One of the emissions related DTC's being set.
2 - VATS not learnt correctly.

With the new ECM, did you just plug it in the truck and it ran?
Something you might want to try with the new ECM in the truck.
In the tune tool go to the System section, then VATS.
Make sure G0301 is set to 'Enable'
Set G0302 to 30 (seconds).
Set G0304 to 1

Then follow the proceedure in the description for G0302.

I can't gaurantee this will work to fix your problem, but certainly on the gas ECM's this is something that must be done to learn the theft codes on a new ECM, but normally they will not even start without the relearn proceedure being done.
I also looked through the TechII menus for VATS relearn on the LMM and could not find anything, which confuses me even more!

I have also added in a few new PID's to the scantool to show the reasons why the remote start was disabled, these will be in the next update (due this week).

The only advantage in getting the dealer to reflash the new ECM is the tune that will be flashed in is 'exactly' the one for the truck, but, if you already have a copy of he's stock tune then there is no advantage in visiting the dealer now EFILive will do a full reflash on the ECM.

We'll figure this out soon enough I am sure.

Cheers,
Ross
