Hey Guys, I have a base work truck 06 Dmax ally RC/LB. I also have 00 1500 base work truck with the 4.8 as the only option. The 06 has cc, ac and tow mirrors. Why is it that the 06 has a odo, hourmeter (that reads 78 hours with 114xxx miles), and a trip while the 00 1500 has a complete message center? My truck came without an owner manual so is there something I am missing???

anything that the 99-2002 "message center" would show, the 2003+ base model truck also has the capability to show in the driver info center..........

There really werent that many things that the 99-02 message center would show....low oil pressure warning, low coolant, battery not charging, security, low fuel level....thats about it.

The 2003+ driver info center (where the odometer display is) will show the same text messages if the situation calls for it. Actually the 2003+ driver info centers can show over twice as many messages as the 99-02 message center.

Thanks. I thought I saw a display like mine with "fuel filter %" but maybe its on the lt or ltz trucks

Correct, you can only see all that additional stuff on the trucks that have steering wheel controls.

However, when your fuel filter or oil needs changing, your driver info center WILL say "change engine oil" or "change fuel filter". You just cant see real-time % life remaining with the base model trucks...

You really dont know if it was done. If your light was on when u came in and its off then you know, but if your going off miles not the light you dont really know. To reset that light you need to,

To reset the Engine Oil Life System, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
If the OIL LIFE RESET message displays for 10 seconds, the system is resetting.
3. Turn the ignition key to LOCK.

You guys are the best. I was bad and drove about 5000 miles on whatever GM dealers use for diesel motor oil before it was changed. Should that change oil warning have come on? Truck was doing very light duty towing, maybe 3500 pounds. I do a ton of miles cross country etc. Would a syn. oil be better to prolong the oil changes or regular oil better because its black after 1000 miles? I am a true FNG. Thanx
