A guy brought me this thing today...said he had taken it to a quiky lube so yhe first thing i did was put a gm filter and good oil, just to rule out them putting 5w30 in it or somthing:confused: It does fine till you drive it for a while then it just drops to nothing and will only come up to about 20 psi when you rev it... put a manuall gauge on it and it reads the same thing, 0!!!
Oil pump??? Its an old mans truck so bone stock perfect service record too. Thanks.

What year truck is it. If it's a older one the oil pump nut could be backing off or the gear could be spinning on the oil pumps shaft.

I would try that aslong as the truck has never been tuned at all. Should fall under the warranty and be 100 bucks if that.Edit that get the vin up need to see when he bought it might be out from being over 5 years old.

i can get a very very low mileage lly complete motor for a reasonable price if his is damaged due to lack of oiling.

Aslong as he did not drive it much it should be fine Foster had this happen to him back a few months ago and we had it happen to the LB7 that we built but that was the owners fault truck had killer oil pressure at start up. it was cold did not allow to warm up and it spun the gear had it hauled home we pulled it and checked the bearing and all was good. got a new pump to be safe and I had my machine shop key the shaft and the gear for the pump so I would not have to worry about it again and we took the old pump apart look and checked it out it was fine and did the same to it for a spare pump.

yeah for some reason the dmax's are surprisingly tolerant of low oil pressure; foster drove his a 'scary' distance (I think 1/2 mile home?) with 0 oil pressure and his truck has 250k on it...still runs great.
