So I'll start at the beginning...last Sunday I was towing for a friend and all of a sudden the trans limped. I got the truck to the side of a the road and hooked up my PPE handheld to check for codes (CEL came on for a brief second before the trans limped). I found no codes, but decided to be on the safe side and reset the truck to stock, so we could finish the tow. While this was going on, I decided to get out of the truck and when I did so, I bumped the cable and it disconnected from the truck. I didn't figure this out till later. While outside of the truck waiting for the handheld to finish (which it wasn't doing now that it was unplugged), I noticed a giant puddle of trans fluid. Apparently one of the transcooler lines popped off and dumped most of the fluid from the trans....now I know why the trans limped. I called my wife and had her bring me some fluid while I put the line back on and tightened down the clamps.
Once all that was fixed, I went to start the truck and nothing. It wouldn't even crank. I noticed the cable was unplugged and immediately realized what happened. I had the truck towed to the dealership and bought an ECM off eBay from a parts dealer. Dealership put the new ECM in and reprogrammed it. Now the truck cranks, but doesn't fire. They hooked their Tech2 up to the truck and it can't communicate with any module in the truck except for the new ECM and the TCM.
Could I have completely fried every module in the truck when I unplugged my handheld on Sunday? I thought that would have only caused a problem with the ECM, which has now been replaced.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
