I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about nitrous. I am looking to put a kit together for my truck (built trans, big tune, stock motor/turbo). Please check in if you have any personal experience running the stuff...what do you run for bottle pressure, solenoid size, jet size...what do your nitrous tunes look like (timing, fuel etc.)...what quarter mile times and dyno numbers with what setup...

Thanks a ton in advance. I'm trying to do this as "safely" as possible and that is why I'm doing lots of homework before hooking the bottle up.

Lets just say I don't want to give myself a premature reason to build my motor. Even though I would love a built motor:woott:

With stock sticks? You could run about a 75 shot. You only want enough to clear up the smoke to almost none.

I'm running a two stage system on the van. Running one nozzle with a .052 pill in it before the intercooler and another with a .061 pill spraying in after the intercooler with about 1100 psi of bottle pressure. I have it set to start spraying at 18 psi and WOT, which both happen as soon as I launch since I've been launching at about 20 psi the last couple of times I've been to the track. I've only had it on a 1/4 mile track twice now, but nothing really impessive to report there. I think the best 1/4 mile time was a 12.2 @ 115, but my 1/8 mile times were about 4/10 off my best 1/8 mile times (best 1/8 mile time is 7.47 @ 95 MPH).

your truck is droppin rail pressure. that thing ran clean down the track, only blew smoke when you were boostin up. Get that taken care of and then id get into doin nitrous. Right now, you dont have much fuel left to see much benifit from nitrous.

Yeah I know buddy. I'm sure my old CP3 is tired. Of course I would get that taken care of before hooking up the bottle.

Great info. Thanks. The track times you stated are just about what I am looking for. Reliable low 12s would be nice with a small shot.

I know you've thought about your options allot and I know nitrous gives you allot of HP per dollar but you really should considered a turbo instead. I know its more money but your turbo will always be there your bottle will run out.

x2 throw a 66mm on it and run 12's without having to spray it. It costs like 50 bucks a bottle to fill and they don't last long! SO in the long run it would be cheaper to do a bigger turbo

A 66 will clean up all the smoke of stock sticks. It takes a 115 shot to clean up 45 overs on a stock Turbo. They both run near identical times. I tune two trucks with this setup. Heads up racing they are pretty equal.

I know there are tons of guys on here that are currently running nitrous or have played with it before. Need more input.

Since Shane has put me out there my truck runs great on a 51 jet in the intake. The other truck Shane tune has a high dollar turbo stock sticks and head work. I have 40 overs and nothing else done to the motor, now this other dmax has over four grand in turbo and head work I have 500 bucks in my nos kit, when we run I had to run him down because I spin a little of the line but I run him down about the 1/8 and go by him we didnt run the full 1/4 cause we were on the street I got him. He's gone get some bigger sticks to try and keep up I wish him luck with that. Pm me and I'll give you my number.

I run a .040 jet in the y bridge, .125 solenoid. Wired to an arming switch and little red button. As soon as I see 10 psi I press the button and my gauge goes straight to 42 psi. Ive sprayed it 5 times with a bottle my friend had after the install. I haven't sprayed it since and that's probably why motor is still fully intact. :roflmao: nitrous is an addicting drug...
