Anybody ever try one of these things?

I picked up a nitro powered 1/8th scale truck, about 16" long 10" wide. It runs on nitro and some other additives, oil?

Anyway it's essentially a 2 stroke diesel with a glow plug. Has a 2 speed tranny, you can change shift timing, all the gear ratios, its 4 wheel drive.

I thought it would be a "joke toy" but they are very quick and ALOT faster than you'd think. When you get it leaned out and the temp up it'll blow the tires out and balloon. Flips over backwards when it hits second (20-30 MPH +/-) if traction is available.

The exhaust smells like gearhead heaven....

I want to get some better servos and a metal trans then a .?? V spec motor? I can't memmer, all said it was night and day power to the stock REVO mill.

oh yea, got a few my Revo has a Collari .30 italian
race motor in it making about 4hp !

Thats a sick motor.

I have a few trucks and cars. Started with a T-maxx, did a .21 conversion. I spent a lot of cash on that shit in high school. Got 2 on-road cars that top just over 70mph, 2 trucks and a buggy.

I was looking at getting me one of these. I've heard the electric is a little less problem free over the nitro, and can be made faster. Choosing between electric and nitro is the only thing holding me up right now.

They are cool!

I spent big money on these toys also. i first started with a .15 tmaxx then jumped it to a 1.5 hp motor and blew the tranny out many times and twisted many driveshafts then jumped it up to a 2.5 hp motor and all it does it break so i sold it and that was the last i have been in these.

i am planning on making a rock crawler with solid axles, brushless motor, and a custom frame with rear steer:rockon:

I've been into R/C since 1991. Used to race R/C at the track in the basement of the hobby shop in the little town in Ohio where I used to live. Now I have a Revo 3.3 and its only mod is the Traxxas rear diff spool. I highly recommend getting that spool for any Revo or Tmaxx if its just a backyard basher. Next R/C I'm gonna get is a 1/5th scale HPI Baja 5B buggy. It uses a gasoline/2 stroke oil weedeater engine and they are fast and have huge aftermarket support.

I love the way the exhaust smells... kinda like the way the 2 stroke dirt bikes used to smell runninh what was it???? rp-2? Cp-2? some pre mix.. it was sweet.

The only thing i don't like abouthem is you can put more motor in them than the chassis/tires can handle my tires balloon at high speeds and handling goes out the window. I wish my REVo was longer so i could put some more power to use.

Didn't know the motors were rated by HP, thought they rated by size. .21, .28 etc. Anybody know what HP the REVO .21 is?

If i had to do it again i might go electric, more plug and play fun versus fouling plugs and break in etc.

I know the one your talking about.... NICE! Are the 2 stroke weed eater motors responsive? My weed eater has a flat spot right off idle...

The Collari .30/Revo is absolutly INSANE! I did that conversion right after the collari came out and was prolly the first ever to put a .30 in a Revo let alone a Collari LOL! Its a 1st gen Revo 2.5 chassis so its short and extra stupid, im an overkill type of personality! Heres the skinny on it... Has P2 suspension, forward only trans, gold springs, alum hiem ends, alum pushrods, Trinity exh, alum hubs, Ti shock shafts Spektrum DSM, etc. It looks like crap right now cause it ends up in a flipping ball cause its so mean! I have a 2500HD body for it. It has blown up 3 tranny gearsets, burned the piss out of 3 LOCKED slipper clutches (still turns them blue!) 5-6 spur gears, 3-4 clutches, 3 motor mounts, twisted the centers out of wheels, lots of suspension parts! LOL In all fairness its not to bad on parts, im just hard on it! If the motor is clean and on the pipe it will back flip instantly, so all of 1st gear you hafta feather the throttle and its still on the back tires most the time and 2nd gear it hauls ass! If tires have grip it slams 2nd gear and stands back up on the rear tires again! It hits 2nd so hard I hafta occasionally hafta remove the 2nd gear shift pawl to shave the sides down cause it mushrooms the end of it from hiting so hard and then its stuck in 2nd gear! Slowing it down from full speed can make the little brake rotor glow! I have prolly 2k in it total including busted parts but theres alot more i want for it! And Its bumpstart only.

I also have an all stock Losi Muggy. Its fun and fast for a stock truggy! Its broke right now from a sweet 50ft jump i fouled the landing up on and trashed the back end of the truck. I knew it was bad when i heared the "snap" from 100ft away and see a cloud of shock oil:rofl:

My buddie has an old Savage 21 with an Axial .32 in it and a bunch of other stuff. slightly bigger motor but less power than the collari, most real nasty motors are Italian!
He also has an HPI Baja 5B, the big 1/5th scale gasser buggy that has some parts! sounds like a fricken dirt bike! Its fun!
