WHat kind of truck cover would you guys put on your truck? My truck is gunna be sitting outside for the next 5 months and id like to put a cover over it jsut to help keep the AZ sun off it and keep the sun from baking the interior. I dont wanna use a cheap one as i dont want it scratching my paint from wind flapping it or from coarse material.

This... good luck

I don't know what to recommend. I had a cover on my car for a bit before I got the doors on my garage. Wind blows a lot here and it damaged the paint on the door from a little movement (I had it secured tightly). I'm sure there is something out there, but the one I had wasn't it. Buffed out pretty well but still a PITA.

thats what im afraid of. id rather it sit in the sun that put one on if i might scratch it

Just go to Home Depot or Fleet Farm and got one of those small hoop sheds that you pull tarps over. Probably can get one just big enough for you truck.

i would but i have no way to anchor it other than drill into the concrete and even then, with out dust storms i know that sucker will come out and hit the truck or fly away

http://www.carcoverworld.com/lookup.asp?se=custom_car_covers&pc=380_series

this is what I bought, It was well worth the money, way better than a portable shed:mad:

I dont mind spendin the money on it if it will keep from scratching her. How long have you used it? has it been though any kind of weather?

I had one on my 83 while it's sat for a couple years.... I was worried about it sanding my paint off too so I got one a little better than middle grade. I think there was only one "level" better than what I got. I, however, cannot for the life of me remember the brand. I do know I got it on eBay and it was around $75 or so. It didn't quite go to the bottom of the cab though BUT it was designed for a newer style CCSB since they didn't make such a creature in the 80s. It did good though. It was better than the pollen and tree sap all over it!

It also wasn't completely water proof, just water resistant. It was porous to let it breathe. It took a long or hard rain to get the truck wet but even still itwasn't soaking wet... just damp on the underside of the cover. It was also mold resistant. ;)

Ive had that one on for about a month now. through 40 mph winds and some rain and snow. it keeps the snow and rain out very well, it breathes very well. it fits very well if you don't have the newer style tow mirrors. I bough the locking cable with it so it doesn't blow off. I have a completely new paint job with no wax or anything on it yet and it looks like the day I picked it up from the paint booth. This is a mid-grade cover. others I was interested in were 6-800 bucks.

James, This is the car cover Ive had for two years now. Its the weathershield HPhttp://www.carcoverusa.com/Weathershield_HP_Car_Cover.html
To be honest, I was getting tired of washing my truck ever weekend from it sitting outside even though it hasnt been driven and even with my tints, I was afraid of the interior fading from the sun. I had the same fears as you with scratches and such also. I have to tell ya, this should have been done years ago! It has two really good ancor points on the sides that I bungee cord to the torsion bar bolts and I bought two plastic wood working clamps to clamp on the air damn and rear bumper and havent had it blow off yet. I think it cost me around $300. The only complaint I have is it has faded from black to kind of brownish. Ive called about it and they say it has no effect on the performance and is normal. During the winter, I pull it off about every month and wash it (fits in normal size washing machine) and wipe the truck off with quick detailer and throw it back on. When this cover wears out I will not hesitate to buy another. Hope it helps

yeah my dad has that type on his jeep and i had one on my ranger. they only last about 6 months in the sun and you gotta change them out, plus the scratch in the wind and hold dirt in the fabric.

Well i put the truck cover on hold for a while but finally bought one last week. wound up goin with this one

http://www.autoanything.com/car-covers/60A1009A0A0A2638443.aspx

Seemed like the best bang for the buck and i feel fairly comfortable it wont scratch the truck. Should keep all the desert dirt and rain off her too. Thanks for all your input guys! will be interesting to see how it fits with my fiberglass fenders and bumper :D

316 out the door shipped. i found a cheaper price on another site and did the online chat with a salesman. he beat their price by the 10 bucks they advertised and they have free shipping goin on right now. I really wanted the weathershield HP but couldnt justify the price, plus this cover i bought says it protects better in the sun and people bumping into it (which i know ill do :D)

Thats cool james. not a bad deal at all. Thinking back, the only reason I got mine for a deal is becasue they said they were changing the way they die the fabric to hold up better to sun. So they had a lot of excess they wanted to get rid of. I will follow up with you though and see how you like it when it comes time to buy. You think about covering your wheels up to? I just bought 4 wheel covers for RV's to cover up my wheels when its parked to protect it from rain and sun and sh*t. Like the pic shows, only about 8-10 inches are exposed, but its enough to drive me crazy. I sleep better now knowing every inch of the trucks out of the elements shy of being in a garage! Might be something you want to look into. Cost me $100 for two sets of covers. Found em in black to match the car cvoer as well:D

Yeah ill keep this thread updated on how it does. It shipped yesterday so should be here friday per UPS. Ill be putting it on saturday after i give her a good bath. If i could find wheel covers big enough i might but i havent seen any for 37s that are cheap. Ill probably put some boards up to the tires to cover them and keep the sun off them. Not too worried about rain on the wheels cause they polish up really easy.

Here's another idea...a bit pricey, but the truck will stay clean...

http://www.carcapsule.com/CarCapsule_FAQ.htm

interesting. Cool idea but i doubt you could fit my limo in one lol. Plus i still doesnt keep the sun off the interior which is my big concern
