Maybe. We will see how the truck is running after I get it back from the dealer. It went in with a mysterious coolant smell and I was losing 1 liter every 1000km so I dunno what they found yet-if anything.

Calgary IS garbage right now... I'm down for a training course and I was expecting shorts and t shirt weather haha.

I was going to try and hit up some street legals this year.. hot august nights or whatever they used to call them. I think its friday nights.

Brule is a good time. Only been there once, and only for a day cause a buddy decided to cartwheel is bike down one of the logging roads back in there and skidded up his knee,,, filled his "knee pocket" full of gravel and stuff, knee cap was poking out, it was greif.

Ended up having some small surgery at Edmonton Royal Alex to clean it out.

He hasn't rode his bike since.

There are some pretty knarly sand hills to climb and the flats are pretty fun too when the water goes down. You can really open it up there.

Ya. I ride a bike, but there where plenty of guys on 4x4 quads driving out in the lake. There are some sand bars that you can ride out into the water where there are some big sand islands haha. I got to a few. Kinda tough to ride a bike in 2 foot deep water though. The hills are pretty fun for drags and whatever.

Be careful before you fly over the top of any of them because sometimes, its a straight down 40 foot drop into the trees on the other side.!!!

But ya, definitely a cool place to ride. Some good jumps here and there. I rode on a standard knobby. Like a dunlop 756 or a Kenda or something, one of the soft compound silt/mud/sand/loose dirt tires and I was plenty fine. Infact, I don't recommend paddles out there... there is too many places where you ride on some hard trails or on a logging road to ride a paddle. I recommend just a soft compound knobby like the 756 or something.

The flats are pretty fun. I like wheelies, so the wet hard sand is good for that. Watch out for drift wood and stuff haha. When i was there the water was fairly low... I\m thinking I was there in june/july...

Take a camera if you like pics, there are some sweet shots of the dunes with mountains in the back and stuff.

Ya, right along the lake you'll be fairly safe. Depending on where you camp though it could be anywhere from 5 minute to 15 minute ride on trails/logging road.

When I went I turned off the highway just outside of hinton, and there is a road that goes to a provincial campground, but it branches off about 1 minute in on it and you can go into the back 40 there and drive towards the north/northeast end of the lake. End up camping about 3/4 of the way down.

Other place I know of is if you turn in my the Overlander Lodge... Never been down there and from what I heard it may be tough to get in that way now because of some development around there. But basically you then camp right at the south end of the lake.

Have fun dude. Let me know how it goes. Maybe I\d even roll out for a weekend and meet up!

Hmm... I'm going to guess south end by the overlander.

It would be tough to get a truck and trailer down to the lake on the north east end. If I recall right the trails are pretty tight. I know for fact you can get close though, but I didn't explore that area well enough to see if a guy could drive a truck all the way down to the lake. Jeep would most likely make it where I went...

The road in was muddy, and then dried up and was badly rutted and my buddy couldn't pull his 5th wheel in as far as we wanted to... you could hear it creakin and groanin and moanin from articulation on the logging road and it was getting worse as we went so we camped in a nice grassy area on the side of the logging road. There were a few guys camped closer to the lake in other grassy areas though.

... maybe thats the name of the provincial park?

I got no idea.

I'm like beerfest... everywhere I go I'm loaded, and to find my way back I need to get loaded again and try and find my way.
