Well its time to retire the old freightliner from hauling milk. The Detroit is getting tired and will need an overhaul in its future however by pulling it off the road and only using it for in the field we are thinking we should be able to postpone the overhaul for a long time. Right now were running 4,000 or so miles per month. The freightshaker will maybe see that in a year now. We had plans to add a newer truck within the next couple years anyways. Too much work trying to keep a truck in good running shape and dot legal when your pounding it in the field every other day. Especially when its a job as crucial as hauling the milk. We always were having to work around hauling milk too which meant lost jobs, efficiency and profits for the apron trailer.

The truck was tired, we were fixing it often and were tired of driving it that much. Not the smoothest truck. No creature comforts and it was so loud, squeaky and rattling that you couldn't hear yourself think. You would talk on the phone to someone driving it and swear they had the window s down and doing 90.

The new one is a minor step up. 2007 KW T600B with 580,000 miles on it. We wanted a day cab, but the 62" flat top on this truck actually changed our minds a bit. The short flat tops have good resale. They don't take up that much space or add that much weight yet this one is still be enough to use if we ever needed, plus it gives you somewhere to put all your junk. And thanks to KW's step down sleeper style I can actually stand up in it and I'm 6' 2". I actually think the truck looks pretty sharp with it.

Its a 230" wheelbase but considering I was looking at W900L day cabs that were all 220"+ its not too bad. The longer wheelbase and sleeper make the ride a lot better and quieter.

Its got a C13 ACERT set at 430hp. Already had a leak in the bellow between the low pressure compressor outlet and high pressure inlet.(dealer fixed no charge, plus of buying local) I know the turbos are this engines problem. But at the same time the C15 has the same problems with leaks and the ISX has it's EGR problems and Turbo problems as well. I guess I wouldn't call them problems by today's standards. The days of the 6NZ C15, 3406 and N14 are gone. The nice thing about the C13 is that it is light and sips fuel. This trucks lifetime average without idle time is 6.99. With the idle figured in it was 6.71mpg. It does have a no idle espar bunk heater and NITE A/C system.

Trans is a 13spd OD. Rear ends are 3.36 (does 1450@70mph) all aluminum wheels, 22.5LP with fairly new Michelin drives and new steers. Suspension is AG380. Truck is very light. 16,380 door weight. Has an auto greaser on it which is nice.

The inside is very nice. Nicer than our pickups, queiter and tighter too. It is the Diamond level with quiet cab insulation. Daylight doors, power mirrors, windows and locks. Spotlights and even a sunroof. Couldn't believe how quiet the thing is inside. Barely have to turn the radio on to hear it, versus having to blow out the speakers in the freightliner just to hear it over the noise.

Getting it lettered tomorrow. Maiden voyage on Friday. Hopefully it turns out to be a good truck. This.one will never leave the road, and will probably never get a wet kit. Plans are to trade in 4 years.

My phone won't take good pics in the shop now that we have new light bulbs. Too bright but here's a couple pictures.

The T660s do look nicer, the T600 is a very dated look. But we didn't want to touch one with the 07 emissions. Wanted to stay before that. then the next truck can be 2010 emissions when we go to get rid of this one which will be okay with us.

Looks like a nice truck! I know having drove both a day cab international, and a sleeper eagle when I was out on the harvest crew it was a lot nicer to have the extra room behind the seat, i'm 6'0 and still felt cramped in the day cab...what did ya give for it if you don't mind?

I like the extra room the sleeper gives you for that as well. The KWs already give you a lot of room, but it makes it that much nicer. In the freightshaker you sit with the windsheild right in your face, the KW you can't even reach the thing.
