Howdy guys! (and a gal or two, I'm sure)

Just bought my first DMax and am quickly learning that it's cheaper to ask questions before you buy.

I've owned a 2001 CC/SB 4WD 6.0 Gas since new and always regretted not buying the DMax. Decided after the hurricane evacuation in 2008 that I needed a diesel for fuel availability and range with an aux tank.

My little girls have become so fond of it that I had to get their approval before buying a diesel. So I showed them pictures of everything I was contemplating and they picked the same model, year, color, except long wheel base and bigger lift. So like a moron, I bought it sight unseen from across the country and it's been nothing but trouble.

I thought with only 125,000 on it that it couldn't be that bad, right? Well, a month into it and I have replaced the CP3 and am on my way to a transmission build. Starting to suspect injectors too.

Worse than the money and aggravation, is the nagging from the wife who keeps telling me I should have known better.

So, I'm here to learn and observe. I may be dusting some wrenches off and getting dirty before long.

Sorry for the frustrations...for what it's worth a lot of us can relate to a complaining wife haha. Sadly the problems you suspect are perhaps the most costly to address. If you are mechanically inclined you can do your injectors yourself with the help of some write ups that have pics. Genuine Bosch remans are the only way to go. DO NOT BUY CHEAP EBAY JUNK. The remans can be bought for 200 a piece plus core charge if you get in touch with the right people. As far as the Trans goes plan on spending 3k or more depending on parts selection to get her rebuilt. Maybe a "stock" rebuild would be less I'm not sure. Good luck and if you need help diagnosing before you buy let us know!:thumb:
