Baught my 01 duramax(First Diesel) two months ago with bad injectors. After doing research I spent the extra cash and went with Socal Diesel injectors(Big thanks to guy was worth the cash). I've now put 3k miles on the truck and I love it, except I want more power. :thumb: I plan on getting a 4" MBRP turboback exhaust, S&B CAI, and EFI LIVE with a DSP5 from Idaho rob. By next summer I hope to dig into the allison. Any advice/tips feel free! I know I have a ton to learn

I dont plan on going to crazy until that happens. Correct me if I'm wrong but not to many guys have issues until they get into the 450-500whp range. Which I only plan to run maybe once or twice at 450whp this summer at the track. If I even work up the guts to try it

I have been running Robs 150 tune for about six months and have only limped the trans once but that was when I was on the freeway and forgot I was on level 4 and did the dreeded 4th to 5th shift but on the other hand I take it pretty easy on my truck and have not tried level 5 yet.

I currently run Robs largest tune because that is where I get the best fuel mileage. I can be heavy on the throttle but try to be careful (4-5,5-6 shifts/rolling into the throttle rather than flooring it/lay off the launches) and the tranny has been fine for 70k miles (according to the ass meter - who knows what it looks like inside or how much time I have left). I do run a transgo jr. kit. You take it to the track even a couple of times and my guess is you'll have problems (unless you are lucky - unlike myself lol :D).

Welcome and have fun!

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't your six speed will hold more HP than his five speed will stock. Plus you have a transgo Jr. That would be equal to a mildly built five speed.

I don't know about 6 speed being stronger than a 5 speed. I've never had a 5 speed. Would have to let the pros comment on that. I think (again really don't know) that he would need to install a full transgo rather than a Jr since he has the five speed alli if he wanted a little extra protection. The only issue I remember reading was he may have to drop the tranny for a full transgo unlike the 6 speeds.

I havent looked into it at all. Any advice? I'm assuming a full rebuild, might as well. I already have my parts ordered I guess I just will delay the DSP5 haha. Any write ups on doing it yourself?
