Info: New Year, new server for DD.com

Well the site is moving to a new server. We have noticed some speed issues recently and I realized the current server we've had for almost 5 years. So time to upgrade(N20, bigger turbo etc etc). The new server is ready to go and I'm moving some small sites onto it now. DD is going to be the last one moved since it is the largest (plus I'm using the others to test the site before moving this one ). My current plan is to start about 9am PST on Saturday. I'll be trying to post static status pages here and on the new FaceBook page that I had to create for the site since the old one was apparently a group instead of a page.

The one thing I can't control is how fast people will be able to get to the new server. Because it is a different server the IP address for the site has to change. This change has to propagate through the internet for all users to access the new location at its own speed. Usually it only takes a couple of hours but could take a couple of days for some people.

It's called DNS - Domain Name Service, its how computers know where to go. So far with the other sites I've seen the change in an hour or 2, one of them was in about 10 minutes. 24-48 hours is the standard answer you get from internet providers.

Do mods to your trucks, take pictures and notes. When the site comes back up you can do a DIY article for everyone. (BTW you left yourself very open for a smartass answer but I'm being nice today :roflmao.

Still jibberish to me. My computer doesn't go anywhere,ok occasionally it will go upstairs and then back down but other than that it just sits here. Now when I'm sleeping it might go elsewhere but I have noticed it not being back in the spot where i left it previously!

Maybe I should set up a camera or something and catch it in the act visiting other computers. If that is what it's doing for I not know as I'm sleeping.

Is there any suggestions you could give my computer or perhaps driving directions to get there ,I'm sure it will find it's way back. Or better yet what about if I Fed-X it (Sorry Tom sometimes you gotta go navy socks instead of brown socks) over night to you and my computer and your server can meet shake hands or what ever they gotta do to expedite this change?

Now what about my Fart Phone can it just call your server and say Hi? Or will it too be spinning and spinning timing out saying server not found or it's to busy try again later?

Of these smaller sites, which one do you suggest we go to for updates if there is (heaven forbid) problems with the switch of DD or logging in problems? Are any of them neutral that we can get updates from about this site?

What I did is put all of the MC'swain's phone numbers in my phone and if I get frustrated,bored or otherwise I'm just gonna blow up their phones Eastern Standard Time until it's fixed! :roflmao:
