new tuner and mileage

I know it is off most likely but with the new tuner and a 200 mile trip (highway) I got 27.2 MPG from what used to read 15.7 MPG.

I know tires size factors in and gear ratio which is why I was having trouble determining actual mileage.

I also went up from range of 363 to 570 on a full tank...great news but seems way to good to be true.

Any idea on calculations to figure this out exactly. I would do actual miles traveled versus onsumption but mileage traveled is off due to the tires etc.

for instance my truck runs 315 70r17 tires and has since around 70000 miles. now it is just over 128000. so mileage is actually higher right?

it is the stock 3.73 ratio also.

just trying to figure out the best way to get an accurate mileage update with the tires i run and tuner now in place since I know shown mileage is off. (I assume these would not effect the DIC when showing fuel used on the trip or the CTS monitor showing fuel levels).

FYI it is a PPE tune on level 1 and CTS monitor.

Thanks

set the PPE to 34.25 and your speedo should be damn near correct. dont go higher or the ABS lights will come on and you wont have ABS.

I can with both the PPE and the CTS and I have. It just seems like such a huge gain that I was takenback. I admit it could be possible as my drive daily is mostly 55mph both ways and I live in the country so not much city driving.

I just want to make sure I am not mising something and celebrating this great mileage improvement prematurely

@chevy1925. is that for gear ratio on the PPE? I have 3.73 in it currently. I know what you are talking about though...made the mistake of not entering the ratio when I tuned it the first time and it sat at the preset of 2.73 and my mileage was above 30mpg. I fixed it quickly though and now am at the current readings

you need to change your tire size. not the gear ratio. it should be 3.73 unless you changed them.

no tire size. dont go off your DIC for mileage. even in 100% stock form its not 100% accurate. only way you can get a close to accurate reading is hand calc it.

well I did four different hand calculations for DIC and edge monitor with mileage and gallons. All were above 20 mpg so it did get better by a decent amount. I forgot if it was 16 gallons used or 16.9 so I did both.

EDGE mileage = 405

405/16=25.31 mpg
405/16.9=23.98 mpg

DIC mileage = 363.6

363.6/16=22.725 mpg
363.6/16.9=21.514 mpg

so I am happy with those numbers either way, since the edge has tire input I guess it is closer, but I also put tire size in with the PPE so the DIC would register...who knows where the difference is coming from. the DIC reads 22.8mpg which seems ballpark for all those numbers anyways.
