Hi, I've just purchased a 2005 GMC 2500 that was stock except for the trailer brake the previous owner used to haul a 5th wheel. I've ordered the LBZ turbo inlet mouthpiece off Ebay and started thinking that when it arrives I'll be better off upgrading the whole cold air intake now. What kit do I buy now? Something for an LLY or LBZ? A friend who has more experience modifying duramaxes than I is pushing me towards Banks Ram Air, some guys I've talked to at diesel performance shops say AFE but neither has a good idea when the mouthpiece is being swapped at the same time any suggestions?
Also looking to swap the exhaust from stock to something that can breathe easier but live close to other people and don't want to be the jerk that wakes up the whole neighborhood when I leave early. Any exhaust suggestions would be appreciated.
Any other mods that anyone can think of that make sense to do at this stage will be gladly entertained, thinking that it prob makes sense to do a pyro gauge pillar mount so I can start getting a base line temp before the tune upgrade happens someday
Truck is my daily and will be hauling rented construction equipment on tandem axle trailers with no brakes because that's what they got and I have no place to keep my own trailer.
Thanks, excited to be in a Duramax
