New to diesel world

Today, I just purchased a 2003 Silverado 3500 4x4 with 108K miles. It belonged to my friend who died of cancer in August 2016. He bought it brand new and took really good care of it. I bought it from his widow, it took this long (4 months) for the probate court to approve the sale.
I have never owned a diesel. I hope from joining this forum I can learn how to properly maintain it and fix anything that might come up.

Is the truck all stock? First mod if not already done should be the best fuel filtration you can get. Either nicktane adapter with a CAT filter or a lift pump with built in filter, or both.
