"No, tea won’t be thrown into the May River. And odds are no one will dress in Native American garb. But there will be an air of protest Wednesday at the “Great Bluffton Tea Party.”

Republicans from across the Lowcountry will gather at the Promenade from 5 to 7 p.m. to protest President Barack Obama’s spending and tax plans.

Similar tea parties have already drawn thousands of protesters to other cities. Many more parties are planned nationwide on Wednesday and again on April 15, the last day to file taxes with the IRS. Organizers Ted Huffman and Bill Roe said no one would dump tea or anything else into the May River, as Colonists in Boston did in 1773 to protest being taxed by Britain. The Boston Tea Party was a key event leading to the American Revolution.

Participants are invited to bring tea bags but they’ll be sent to Washington, Huffman said. The Greater Bluffton Republican Club was the first in Beaufort County to plan for a tea party. But word has quickly spread to other area clubs.

Sherri Zedd, president of Republicans of Sun City, plans to attend the party at the Promenade and sent out notices to 500 members in the Sun City club. “People were looking for a tea party, I think,” she said. “They’re really excited Bill and Ted and those folks have organized this.” Huffman said the gathering would be informal, a sort of “yard party” with him serving barbecue. He doesn’t know how many people to expect.

“If 10 people show up, so what?” he said. “If 100 show up, great.” Roe said he expects the event to strike a chord, as Obama’s popularity falls."

I thought this was a good idea esp after he asked for GM's CEO to resign, but required nothing from Freddy Mae, Fanny Mac, AIG, etc etc. It's BS.
