Ok, so i just bought an 06 crew cab lbz with 200k on the dash and is completely stock except for the tires and rims. its truly a beautiful truck and i love it. no issues. So i was reading through different fourms and i see everybody getting 17-19 city and 20+ highway. my concern in my average mpg. it stays at 16.4 no matter if im on the highway or in the city. ive seen it go up to 16.5 but thats the most, this is with no weight in the back. i know its a diesel and a heavy truck and im not too too concerned about it, im just curious, i think i should be getting a little more on the highway or that it should change some as i go from highway to the city and vice versa, but nope, no changes. anybody got any opinions on whats going on? i just changed the oil and oil filter using mobil 1 and a wix filter, cleaned the MAF sensor, blew out the air filter(looked fairly new, wix brand) and added some fuel additive to try and clean up the fuel system.the tires are 285/75/R16s. Thanks guys

Have you ever reset the average fuel mileage indicator? It isn't a rolling average, it will just keep accumulating until you reset it.

The fuel mileage indicated on the DIC isn't always the most accurate anyway. You need to hand calculate the mileage to get your true numbers.

And finally, I don't think most people are actually getting 17+ on the highway. Especially with your size tires, if you are getting a true 16.x MPG, I think you are doing about right.

The DIC is extremely inaccurate. Yoy need to hand calculate the mileage. It might be 20 and that's a huge maybe, but definitely no 25.7 lol

No I'm saying an lbz isn't going to get anywhere near 25mpg especially on 285 size tires. I've gotten 24 in my lb7 on a 265 on the highway with a tail wind and they are known for getting better mileage than lbz's. your just not going to see anything over 20 hand calculated sorry to burst your bubble.

TX of course
its not extremely inaccurate, maybe i would say + or - 2-3mpgs
They can be off more then that. I've seen 5mpg off before.

I had 100m trip across town the other day so I checked my mileage. Going 60ish and getting hung up in some traffic I got 20.3 mpg. That's with 285 and heavy H2s. Made me pretty happy since I haven't seen over 18 in the last 4 years with the way I drive.
