I just got done testing my new pr spring and am very happy with it. This spring will bunp the pressure to 280 psi where I think it needs to be. It is also adjustable at the time of assembly. by that I mean you can raise the pressure with a shim if you are running big power, or if you have 1000 hp we add 2 shims.
Most trucks will only need the spring itself. I have noticed lower pressures on trucks that I did 5 years ago because of spring wearing out from mileage. The pressure shim that we all have been using is no longer enough. Price is cheap for the kit and it comes with a drill bit to expand the ballence hole in the bell housing plate. I think anyone building a trans needs this kit. Under 30 bucks.:D
I will be using this in every one of my builds.

Nice work and ingenuity Mike. Good to see some folks benefit from a really inexpensive mod that'll help a lot in the long run.

I was waiting on the spring before we did your build but needed a benchmark. So I installed the first one in Lawrences truck and got what I needed. You will get stage 2 Jason.:roflmao::D:hug:

Just stage 2? Is there a stage 22?:roflmao::angel:

Awesome Mike. You can send me one when I order a new converter next month. :woott:

Thanks for always striving to make these transmissions better for us. :thumb:

Great price. Do you get both shims with the purchase of a kit? Or do you have to request it at the time you order it?

OK, I'll be the idiot who asks....but is this something a DIYer can install, or does the trans have to be pulled and torn down?

When I did mine, I did a different spring but didn't know to drill the balance hole in the plate...mike can you explain what I might gain by drilling the hole vs. Not drilling the hole?

Thanks,
Tim

The pr kit will come with the spring, drill bit, and 2 shims and instructions. The size of the shims is yet to be determined but I am pretty sure I know what size they are going to be.
The install of the kit will require trans removal and installs in the pump stator support.
Pressure regulator valve must not sit at the bottom of the bore so there is a ballence hole to leak main line pressure to the bottom of the valve to keep it off the seat. If the valve sits at the bottom, cooler flow and converter charge will be partialy blocked. The hole is enlarged to make sure that doesn't happen.
