Not sure what gear, but its stuck in a low one. New NSBU switch this afternoon.

Started by not showing what gear it was in up on the dash.
Would shift up to third, but not past it.
Today it was fine shifting up to 5th and drove 100+ miles with stop and go freeway.
Once I got into town and stopped at the parts store it wouldn't shift out of whatever gear it is in.

Replaced the NSBU, and now it engages into the forward gear pretty hard and doesn't shift.

Not seeing any lights or codes, but haven't plugged in a real scanner yet.

Ideas?

So I guess it wasn't cycled all the way off before testing or it had to be started, shifted to park, shut off, and restarted. Either way, its back to functioning properly.

While we are here, anyone want to shed some light on the filing/deburring of the stud before reinstalling the new switch? I can see how the stud could slightly mushroom if you are the hulk, but it has been a perfect fit both times I put a new switch on this truck.

FWIW, I drive lots of miles on nasty dirt roads and gravel and the thing takes a beating. I'm going to bend up a guard of some kind to protect this thing. Buying one every 50,000 miles isn't going to fly.

Check to make sure that the switch is aligned properly also there if there are codes I don't remember what one it is but I fought an issue like this I replaced everything the nsbu internal harness. It ended up being a ignition switch. I hope this helps.

As stated above, it's good now. There is something goofy in the ignition though. It doesn't always give up the key; sometimes you have to put it back in drive and then to park again to release the key without leaving accessories on.
