I was invited to test my truck in a mpg test tht diesel power mag was doing today there was i belive 7 trucks from diffrent years make and set up. we Left fom Down town LA and headed up the 101 to pismo at a very aganizing pace of between 59-63 mph The end result was 27.2 mpg for my truck it just proves tht driving a little slower if you can bare it can get you some serious mpg. my truck was set up as i daily drive and tht includes my race tune in:) my normal driving is between 75-80 mph and about 18 mpg so just by slowing down I Picked up some serious mpg.

27? Best I did on stock was barely 24 with a tailwind. What tuning tricks are you using? Guess I need to break down and get EFI to increase my mpg.

I can usually get 22-24 if I drive 70-75 on the interstate, but that lasts about 20 minutes or less, lol.

I end up saying f it and hammer down, 90-95 and 12-14mpg :D

i am sure this is hand calc as well ;)

Theres adam with all his wise wisdom again. yes knuckle head this was done for a magazine article being put out. so it was wached verry closely. Joe from ppe with his all stock with level 1 tune lbz long bed got 29+ mpg. I got 27 on the way there and 20 on the way back becuase i did 75+ the whole way. over all it was a good interesting test and can be duplicated by any one who wants to drive 63 mph from La to pismo:)

Yea mat I lost your number plus there was two many dang poeple around just wanted to get back home. :)

That's incredible mileage. *Most* of the time I'm not in a hurry, I may have to consider slowing down a bit. It's a little inconvenient to go slower than 70 on the interstate here though cause that's the speed limit. Guess I could throw the flashers on. :D

Can you share the parameters that were altered to get that amazing mileage. I'd love to get those kind of numbers!

Set your speed limiter to 63mph...

I'm sorry, somebody had to do it.

There's nothing magical about the tune done for specifically for mileage. It's the same one he uses at the track.

That's awesome mpg! Congrats! To bad we couldn't get this going 75-80mph.

Timing plays a big roll in mpg. Most good race tunes will get great miledge if you can keep your foot out of it as stated. The faster you go the further up your going in the fuel tables.
