They outa make gas powered vehicles catch up with diesel's before they change the mileage standards for truck's. Then maybe they will realize that gas is inefficient and someone will start producing more diesel vehicles in the U.S. (yes I saw the cruze post I was gonna get one for my wife now I think I'll wait until I can get the good one next year)

It seems we are penalized for owning diesels. They are more efficient and better for the environment than gasoline powered vehicles, yet we pay more for fuel, smog checks, and now we are being squeezed by the government. Awesome.

He gets me so angry. I can't wait till Nov 2012. Why would the ceo's agree to the 54.5 mpg thing? They r still trying to throw the global warming @ us even though it has been busted.

Pat, what n the heck r u doing reading the puffington post? Most of it is full of lies.

It's not just one person in government that is messing things up.

Oh I completely agree, but if we had a conservative in office, he/she could have vetoed anything the left wings nuts or rhinos had to offer. Plus, I'm 99% sure they would not have spent that much money either.:thumb:

So that article's saying that this policy to improve mileage is retroactive to our existing vehicles? Oh yeah, sure.....

Its just more from the resident Socialist and his cronies.

What's retarded:

If I were GM/Ford/Dodge - I'd build an anti-mileage calibration right now.

The EPA currently doesn't monitor trucks over 8600? lbs GVWR.

It won't be hard to increase mpg 15% if you already dropped it 15% the year before.

 I'd LOVE to see that. Plus, they could all pull a Ford and offer an "updated calibration" that gives you better mileage the next year! They'd all look like the good guys, so long as no one figures it out...

I have managed to increase my mileage at least 5% over stock, even while increasing the weight by several thousand pounds and switching to huge tires. How? Something has to give. In my case: emissions. Makes me wonder how they are going to do it on the new trucks where you can't just eliminate smog crap like I did.

It's like Obama et al. think manufacturers don't try to improve mileage unless they are forced to by law. That is a ridiculous thought, but they don't understand that.

I guess we're back to the 80s emissions then. Don't make it better, just try and fool everyone by pumping air into the exhaust.

First thing they need to do is take "the Beast" and make it meet the new standards. From there he can start throwing rocks at the rest of the country.

It makes logical people wonder why is it good for me if you are not required to meet the same standards.

I have a job, I am suspect to random drug screens, but my tax money goes to drug heads with multiple kids by different fathers and it's considered against the constitution to have them or the politicians to take a drug test to get their checks.

Start with Obama taking a drug test, followed by the rest of the politicians. Fire them just like they would do to me at work. Since they all work for YOU and ME, they should be subjected to the same rules that it takes to pay their salaries.
