I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my 01' Dmax 3500HD dually 4x4... PO said needed head gaskets, cool I got this.. Well towed it home, after diving head 1st into tear down I start to realize it's gonna need some serious love... Not only did it need head gaskets, the motor was locked up after sittin for few months, heads are shot, WATER sitting on top of pistons n overwhelming amount of water in oil... Found a couple pistons were rusted to cylinder walls, deep scoring in pistons n walls, n rust in every possible place ya could imagine... So I'm starting from a fresh clean slate, new block, new parts, no worries about what the next guy sold me... Will definitely keep the posts comin as I acquire everything n start reassemblin the new beast... She will rise AGAIN

Yes, head gaskets was a major understatement... I'd say PO blew head gaskets n drove til she couldn't take the abuse anymore.. Poor thing rebuild is gonna take a lil time, lots of dollars to save up, not takin ANY shortcuts.. Only gettin the best of everything for the old girl.. I just started another rebuild on 95' GM 6.5L TD- 3500HD dumptruck, that is definitely head gaskets.. Building extremely high pressure secs after start up n reservoir bubblin... Good times lol

Ouch! Yeah, that's more than just bad head gaskets. Man, that's probably the worst water damage I've ever seen on a Duramax block. Poor thing!
