my injectors were bad and filling the crank with fuel.I spent $4k getting them fixed and when i got the truck back it ran terrible. it smoked so much out of the crank vent tube that it literally looked like it was on fire and the truck had no power.Along with this there was a knocking/ticking sound that is pretty loud,i had just thought that was the injector knock before hand but now im not sure what it is.before the injector swap the truck didnt smoke and had plenty of power. Not sure what could be causing this and dont know where to go from here.

Sounds like you have a piston problem. Better do a compression test. All that smoke (blow by) is more than likely from a bad piston which would also explain the lack of power and the rattleing

thanks..its at the shop now but ill call in the morning to see if they have looked into it yet.very frustrating!he said they were gonna look again and make sure they did everything correct but ill have them do a compression check and go from there

But keep a close eye and fix them as soon as they break - I've seen too many melted pistons on bone stock LB7s. Come in for an injector job and we inspect with the boroscope and find a piston melted. Calling to tell one customer that is how I ended up with a Kodiak - rod was bent to hell, piston was melted down the side and block had a deep gouge in the cylinder wall. Can easily turn an already crappy and expensive fix into an extremely expensive fix that'll have your truck down for weeks.

this was when you picked it up? or shortly after? I had a similar symptom when an injector hold down bolt loosened and blew by past injector. Thought from sounds I puked motor.

I was just told by the shop that the truck has coolant in one of the cylinders and they dont know why. I asked if it was the head gasket and they told me it passed that test so now they have to put it back together and do a pressure test. could this coolant be causing the white smoke from the crank vent?and it is still pushing oil out the vent tube also so i have no idea what would be causing this

If its water from a cup the smoke would be steam and would have water droplets on the bottom side of your filler cap. All the symptoms point in that direction expect the noise point more to maybe a hols down isn't properly tightened.

I'm not sure. they thought it may be the rings at first because of the loss of power and all the blow by. but if there is good compression and no fuel in the oil could it still be rings or injectors? I dont know much about these motors so I am really lost and just want it fixed lol

Is this at a dealership or some other shop? It doesnt sound like they know what they are doing there...

How do they think it is the rings? Have they done a compression test? Stock LB7 should have around 450 psi on a compression test.

im in southeastern Ohio. The truck is back now, running okay. sounds much smoother and doesnt smoke but still just seems to lack the power it had when i bought it. Really thinking about trading it in and counting my losses, might just be one of those vehicles that has one thing after another go wrong.
