New Half Ton Diesel Pics

Saw this come across my feed this morning. A little more confirmation of an upcoming half ton diesel :thumb:

So will this be the long awaited debut of the 4.5 to fit somewhere between the Ecodiesel and the Tundra xd or will it be smaller displacement focused solely on economy?

Nice! How much is it gonna cost though, a colorado dmax is already 40k it would have to be 10-15k or 20k more to keep away from the Colorado market but then it's getting up into the HD pricing at that point...

id bet pricing to be on par or bit cheaper than a HD truck

My thoughts as well, going tough to have enough room between the two price points to incentivize buyers to stick with the half ton instead of just stepping up to an hd unless mileage is killer.

With fuel prices what they are I just don't see the point really. Who other then diesel guys are going to pay 10k more just to have diesel in there 1/2 ton. Just to get 5/6 more MPG.

The Colorado gets 30+ highway no way the halfton would beat it but it would have to be considerably more than the HD

Well if they can match the other trucks in mileage and compare to Nissan with tq and hp and keep a decent payload then I think it will do quite well. Price it between a colorado diesel and a 3/4 ton diesel and they will have it made.

I for one (once I trade my toy hauler for a lighter camper) am one of those people that has no need really for a 3/4 ton but a colorado is too small for me so this would fit me perfect. I know plenty of others that also would like this that currently complain about the underpowered ecodiesels but like them for the economy and better towing ability than a gasser. Put one in a suburban and I also believe it would be a hit.

Hell, I cant believe they sell the 3/4 tons at $70K now. Who's going to be able to afford one of these in the first place? They've priced all their trucks out of regular people's income range.

Yup. Boats are even worse just 10 years ago your could get a nice 22ft bay boat with a 250 hanging off of it for 35k otd. That same boat now with a 150 is going to be 50k+ otd.

I just don't see these diesels 1/2 tons selling well. You have spend 4K on these new ones just to get rid of the head ache emissions. I tow a lot. My truck hardly goes anywhere that a something isn't hooked to it, but I hardly ever tow heavy. I guess I could be their target market, but I just don't want a new diesel with the emissions on them. Maintenance is probably still just as high as a 3/4 ton. I think ford got it right for people like me with the eco boost. Fix the bugs in them and I would choose than over a 1/2 diesel.

I agree. I like it and the idea, but the price point is super high. I mean even 40k is most or even is half of a persons yearly wages. Its just crazy. The flip side is if you tow a small to medium boat/trailer to go camp then it might be beneficial in a few ways. Just depends on mpg and mpg towing. Who knows it might be a huge pig towing a moderate load.

Put it in a suburban! I would want one.:woott:

A half ton gasser will run you $45k not loaded, diesel option will probably be 6-7k more.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised, any suv with decent options will be pushing $40k
