Hi there. New to the forum, other than lurking in the past, from New Hampshire.
I have two 2005 LLYs: A 2500HD Crew Cab and a 3500HD Crysteel 1-ton dump.
Both are work trucks for my landscaping business.
The 1-ton dump was bogging down under throttle on the highway and threw a P1093 a few weeks ago after filling both tanks with fuel. Changed the fuel filter and everything was fine. It did it again a few days ago and realized I should have checked the air filter too... The filter was pretty bad and the intake box had debris in it. So, before putting in a new air filter, I went to blow the debris out with compressed air. As a precaution, I put two shop rags in the intake. Yup, I forgot the rags and put it back together. Drove it for 5 miles before I thought.... where are the rags? Oh $hit!!!
I found about a third of one of the rags in the throat of the turbo. The rest was pulverized and passed into the Intercooler.
I took everything off to inspect the turbo blades. The very tips of three blades are chipped on the turbo fan.
So, I had it towed to the shop and now I need to figure out what I need to replace/repair before doing any further damage.
Do I have to pull the entire HTT to change the fan? Should I replace the intercooler that must have pulverized shop rags in it? Is there further tests or parts I need to go through?
Thanks...
