New guy here, my name is Jeremy. I am currently in the Army but am preparing for life after the Military since I am going through the medical board process. I am thinking about getting a Duramax (unsure if it will be a 1 ton dually or a 4500 Kodiak) with the intention of hauling vehicles and other cargo. I haven't been able to find much in the way of hard facts with regards to CNG and towing economy. I know the extra power would be great but I wouldn't really be interested in paying $5,000-$10,000 for a CNG setup unless it provides much better fuel economy. I read about the Natruell equipped Durmax getting 35-45 mpg but I haven't seen what that figure would drop to with 14,000 lbs behind the truck. I guess what I am asking here is what is the best option for the Duramax with CNG? I assume that a CNG system would automatically void any warranty, any info on this? Thanks for any info or links.

I work for a natural gas company and we drive all gasoline vehicals for lite and meduim duty if that tells you anything.Diesel for the biger trucks we used to have the big tanks in the back end and it just didnt pay to run it.I used to drive a propane bulk truck also (gas motor) propane gives for kick for your money but it still didnt compare to gasoline for power but it would burn very clean and the oil took for ever to even stat to get dirty. If your looking to add fuel to the motor as a replacement for larger injectors ok but to run it as a daily driver???? i wouldnt do it IMOOh and 35 to 45 mpg??? they are not telling you that was with a full tank of diesel and a full tank of cng and it went xxxxmiles running diesel and suplimenting cng in also so sure it went alot more miles then they divid it by only the 26 gals of diesel and sure it looks great but there is no way in the world that truck get 35 to 45 on cng along
